Via della Sposa
Deve il suo nome a un episodio riguardante una abitante di Perugia, avvenuto nel 1351, la quale dopo aver sofferto pene d’amore e, si pensa, dopo essere essere stata rinsavita da un maleficio, nel giorno delle nozze attraversò la via, grandemente festeggiata. A proposito di magia, il quadrivio in cima alla via, sotto alla Porta Trasimena, aveva una cattiva fama: era, infatti, considerato un ‘luogo infausto’ perché vi venivano bruciati gli oggetti ‘affatturati’.

Via della Sposa, literally “Street of the Bride” owes its name to an episode which supposedly took place in 1351, involving an inhabitant of Perugia. It is said that this woman had suffered many heartbreaks and after supposedly recovering from a curse, she was celebrated on her wedding day while she crossed this street. Speaking of magic, the crossroads at the top of the street, under the Porta Trasimena, had a bad reputation: it was, in fact, considered an ‘inauspicious place’ because ‘bewitched’ objects were burned there.
